Landslides and heavy rainfall in Wayanad have resulted in over 100 deaths and hundreds missing, with many villages submerged.
Amit Shah addressed the Rajya Sabha, accusing the Kerala government of negligence for ignoring early warnings provided by the central government.
Warnings were issued to the Kerala government starting from July 23, but no significant action was taken to evacuate people.
Shah claimed that despite receiving warnings, the Kerala government failed to move people to safer locations.
Shah highlighted that the central government has invested ₹2,000 crore in the early warning system, which has proven effective in preventing casualties in other states.
Shah responded to opposition criticism, asserting that the early warning system's effectiveness is well-documented and has prevented deaths in various states.
