The Andhra Pradesh government has dissolved the state’s Waqf Board and revoked G.O. 47 issued by the previous government.
This decision follows an order from the state high court regarding the legality of appointments to the Waqf Board.
A new Waqf Board will be formed in the coming days.
The previous appointments to the board, made on 21st October 2023, led to legal challenges, resulting in a temporary halt in the appointment of the chairman.
The coalition government under CM Chandrababu Naidu aims to ensure the protection and proper functioning of Waqf properties.
Minister Mohammad Farooq emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare and management of Waqf properties under the new leadership.
