Ismail Haniyeh and his bodyguard were killed in Tehran by the IRGC.
Haniyeh had met with Iran’s Supreme Leader and attended a presidential inauguration shortly before his death.
Haniyeh, born in 1962 in Gaza, served as the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority from 2006 to 2007 and became the Hamas chief in 2017.
In April 2024, Haniyeh’s three sons were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
