Hemant Soren's interim bail plea for campaigning during the Lok Sabha elections was denied by the Supreme Court; his lawyer was directed to address the matter during the scheduled bail plea hearing on Monday.
A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta noted the petition as moot since the high court issued its verdict on May 3, with Soren already contesting it in the apex court.
Soren had additionally requested interim bail to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections until the high court renders its decision on his plea contesting his arrest.
Hemant Soren's petition challenging his arrest, rejected by the Jharkhand High Court, will be heard by the Supreme Court on May 13, with Kapil Sibal representing him.
